PML1003: Project Management [Process Meets Tool] Workshop
What on earth is a [Process Meets Tool]
workshop?
It’s a hands-on workshop; that’s different from the rest in that students learn
core processes *and* the tools that help implement processes. The Processes
covered are industry-standard processes based on the Project Management Body of
Knowledge™; and the Tools in the agenda are WBS, Microsoft Project, Earned Value,
Risk Management tools and a few others.
At FxNexus, we believe Process comes first; and knowledge of the proper tools can
prevent implementation of the process from turning into a nightmare! This workshop
is NOT a regurgitation of processes from the PMBOK, and neither is it a Microsoft
Project advanced class. It’s a hands-on workshop where you get the best of both
worlds. Hence the name - “Process Meets Tool”.
For instance, we don’t just talk about creating a Work
Breakdown Structure; we create one in class – on the computer. When dealing with
processes related to Risk Management, Critical Path Scheduling, Resource Conflicts,
and Project Progress Tracking, we start by explaining the process & ensuing
best practices; and then jump into the relevant software packages to implement these
concepts – thereby leaving the student with a better understanding of how to convert
theory into practice.
